At Sancta Familia we are committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all children and young people in our care. We uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church and recognize the intrinsic dignity of every person, created in the image of God. Our mission is to provide our students with a holistic education focused on academic excellence and faith formation through Catholic Social Teaching. Our safeguarding practices are underpinned by the gospel values of respect and compassion and we aim to create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

We believe that all children have the right to grow up in an environment free from harm, neglect, and abuse. Our safeguarding procedures are designed to ensure that all staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors are aware of their responsibilities and are equipped to act appropriately and that safeguarding is seen as everyone's responsibility.

Our academies work closely with parents, carers, local authorities, and other agencies to ensure that we meet the individual needs of every child and respond to concerns promptly and appropriately.

We are committed to doing this through;

    • Clear safeguarding policies and procedures in line with guidance from the local authority the academy is located in and statutory national guidance from the Department of Education; Keeping children safe in education 2024 (KCSIE)
    • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023
    • Safer recruitment of staff and volunteers.
    • Staff training and professional development at all levels.

Within each academy across the Trust there are Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Deputies (DDSLs) who lead on child protection and safeguarding issues within their relevant academy.

If you have any concerns regarding a pupil at one of our academies, please speak to the academy’s Designated Safeguarding Lead in the first instance.

If you have any concerns regarding a staff member or volunteer at one of our academies, please speak to the academy’s Headteacher in the first instance.

The Trust Director responsible for safeguarding is Father Simon Peat.

If you have a safeguarding concern which you would like to raise with the Trust, then please email; safeguarding@sanctafamilia.co.uk
